Option 2: Kirk Cousins trade with the Vikings

If the Seattle Seahawks move on from Russell Wilson in 2022, one option they could consider as a replacement is Kirk Cousins with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings and Cousins appear headed towards a fork in the proverbial road after this season. Cousins’ cap hit in 2022 is absolutely massive.

The Seahawks are already estimated to have over $53 million in 2022 salary cap space, and if they traded Wilson away, they would obviously have a lot more.

Adding a player like Cousins may not be the favorite option of Seattle fans, but he worked for a year with current Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron when the two were in Washington for a season (2016) so he would be familiar with the offense.

For all of Cousins’ faults, he has helped get the Vikings to the playoffs a couple of times already and could be on his way to another playoff appearance in 2021.

The question here would be — will the Vikings actually move on from Cousins? Do they have that much faith in Kellen Mond? What alternatives would they be pursuing?

It’s not likely we’d see Wilson sign off on a trade to the Vikings, if Wilson is traded in 2022 and the Vikings are open to dealing Cousins, he could be an option for Seattle.
