The Miami Dolphins did something for the first time in NFL history that is pretty bizarre. They are now in the playoff picture as a result.

The Miami Dolphins are 8-7 with just two games to play in the 2021 NFL season, but they are making history.

How many 8-7 teams can say that?

Heading into Week 17 NFL action, the Miami Dolphins have just done something that has never been done before in the NFL as a team. They started off this season with a victory in New England, building off of their strong 2020 campaign. They followed that up with seven straight losses.

With a 1-7 record midway through the 2021 season, the Philadelphia Eagles had to be feeling pretty great about owning the Dolphins’ first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

After losing seven straight games, the Dolphins figured something out, and in a big way. They have now rattled off seven straight victories after their latest win on Monday night against the New Orleans Saints.

No team in NFL history has ever lost seven straight games and won seven straight games in the same season.

Go figure.

As of right now, the Dolphins find themselves just third place in the AFC East, but after rattling off seven wins in a row, they are in the AFC playoff picture with just two games to play. Those final two games?

A road trip to Tennessee to take on the Titans and a home game against the New England Patriots.

The Miami Dolphins have gotten themselves back into contention with a top-10 defensive unit and some really solid balance on the offensive side of the ball. It does help that the Dolphins have played some of the worst teams in the NFL over the last couple of months, including the Jets twice, the Houston Texans, the New York Giants, the Carolina Panthers, and most recently what’s left of the New Orleans Saints.

If the Dolphins make the playoffs, no one is going to care what teams they played along the way to get there. The fact that they have won seven in a row after losing seven in a row is pretty remarkable in and of itself. It’s not surprising that has never been done before in NFL history.

Jaylen Waddle has been the game-changer the Dolphins drafted him to be.

Emmanuel Ogbah continues to be a force off the edge under Flores’ watch.

2021 first-round pick Jaelan Phillips has been an absolute stud.

The Dolphins are a dangerous team right now and with two games to play, we’ll see if they can turn a 1-7 start into a 9-8 or 10-7 finish and playoff berth.
