3. Deshaun Watson (Texans, trade)

There is so much yet to be determined about Deshaun Watson’s off-field issues that talking about his football future is almost a moot point at this particular point in time.

As of right now, it does seem like things are pointing towards Watson being traded in the 2022 offseason, and if that’s the case, could the Packers be involved?

If Aaron Rodgers is not on the roster or doesn’t plan to be, that might make some sense.

Watson, at last we saw him on the field, was still playing at an incredibly high level and was being considered on the same tier of the best of the best young quarterbacks in the game.

As a possible franchise QB for the next decade-plus (at least, strictly speaking for his on-field abilities), the possibility of acquiring Watson in a trade might appeal to the Packers.

Again, the huge issue here is how the off-field issues are sorted out. There have been zero connections between Watson and the Packers up to this point but who knows how that might change if Aaron Rodgers would decide to retire or force his way out of town?

If Watson’s legal situation does clear up, I think we’ll be surprised at how many teams attempt to acquire him from Houston.
