Baker Mayfield trade destination No. 2: Denver Broncos

While the Houston Texans have a lot to fix before being competitive, even if they were to add Baker Mayfield, the Denver Broncos do not. This is a team that’s on the verge of contending and right now, the one thing holding them back is quarterback play.

That’s been the case since Peyton Manning retired as Denver has trotted out Trevor Siemian, Case Keenum (Mayfield’s current backup), Drew Lock, and Teddy Bridgewater. All have had some moments where they looked competent but overall, they have struggled to get the job done – and there has been no playoff berth since Manning rode off with the Lombardi Trophy.

With Denver moving on from head coach Vic Fangio, they could be in the market for wholesale changes. That should include trying to find someone who can be the starting quarterback, and even with his issues in Cleveland, Mayfield could find success in the Mile High City.

One thing that constantly gets said about Mayfield is that he needs everything around him to be perfect. Clearly, that’s not the case with the Browns where they have an elite running game but a suspect wide receiving corps. In Denver, they have Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick, and Noah Fant. Their running game is also stout with Javonte Williams on the verge of stardom.

On top of that, there’s a good defense in place meaning there could be plenty of success for him and the team.
