1. Best coaching hire for the New York Giants: Doug Pederson, former Eagles head coach

The issue with the New York Giants is they have expiring contracts, aging players on defense, and no cap space. They need a proven head coach who knows how to get the best out of his roster —Doug Pederson can. One of the obvious reasons is, Pederson knows the division. He coached in the NFC East and rebuilt the Eagles. He did something Andy Reid couldn’t — win a Super Bowl.

He could take coach the G-Men with a win-now mentality. Offensively, they have pieces in place. Even if you have doubts about Jones, he’s the type of quarterback Pederson can win with. Jones will do wonders in a 12 personnel, run-heavy zone running team. Saquon Barkley will benefit from running behind a zone-blocking scheme as well. The offensive line hasn’t been good for the G-Men, so power and stretch zones will help minimize their shortcomings.

Defensively, if the Giants’ new general manager keeps the roster intact by keeping guys like Blake Martinez and James Bradbury, they’ll have a solid defensive core.

With limited cap space, great draft capital, and potential pieces, a coach like Doug Pederson is the ideal coach to get the G-Men back on track.
