David Bell kicks off latest Chicago Bears 2022 mock draft
TRADE: Chicago sends their 2022 second-round pick to the Denver Broncos for a 2022 second and a fourth-round pick.
1. Second Round via trade with DEN: David Bell, WR, Purdue
Now that Ryan Poles is in charge, the mindset has to change. Additionally, if Justin Fields is genuinely the guy, he’s going to need some help. The Bears can address two holes by trading down with Denver and picking up one extra pick for later.
With their first pick, they grab a new weapon for Fields in the form of Purdue’s David Bell.
Bell was projected as a late first-rounder or very early second-rounder in recent mock drafts. In this draft, he fell a bit, and the Bears grabbed him while also taking an extra pick in the process. Furthermore, the situation around Allen Robinson is an enigma.
As such, it’s better to have a backup plan. Plus, the trenches will undoubtedly be addressed at some point, but you need someone to help score points, and Bell is that kind of player.
At 6’2″ 210, Bell is the ideal size and weight for an NFL wide receiver. Additionally, playing in the Big Ten conference helps deal with physicality. He is a very fluid route runner and is not afraid to go up and get the ball. Over 90 catches for over 1,200 yards and six scores are impressive stats. If Bell falls to the Bears, don’t be surprised if he is a Day One starter.
