Chicago Bears Free Agent Target No.1: C Ryan Jensen

This is a critical move to make. If Chicago is serious about protecting Justin Fields, they need to do what they can to get a good center for their offensive line. Sam Mustipher will not get it done, and it’s not his fault.

Though 30 years old, Ryan Jensen is a battle-tested veteran and a Super Bowl Champion. Jensen led the offense as their anchor and even led the team out of the tunnel for the big game.

Chicago may need to throw a big bag of money in Jensen’s direction to get him if indeed Tampa Bay allows him to walk as Jensen is one of the higher-rated free agents and will command a big market. Also, he is not a young lion. However, it takes a good mixture of youth and veterans to command a team, and Jensen, although he will be above the scale a bit, is tested and worthy enough to command the money.

If Chicago does indeed sign Jensen, it does not mean the team should stand pat with what they have, the draft is upcoming, and it is very possible Chicago uses the roots of Ryan Poles and drafts Zion Johnson in Round 2 and Alec Lindstrom in Round 3. Very possible.

Someone will have to teach those two if they go that route, and Jensen can be that guy. For now, just plug him in with Teven Jenkins and see what you get. Here’s a hint: It’s going to be good.
