Hall of Fame snub No.2: Zach Thomas, Linebacker, Miami Dolphins
Though Sam Mills got in, and rightfully so, it should be considered a travesty that Zach Thomas has not gotten his dues. Despite playing for the Miami Dolphins at a time when largely the weather was better than the record of the football team, Thomas was among the game’s most intense players, evidenced by his nose for the football and strong instincts.
Drafted in the 5th round of the 1996 NFL draft, Thomas spent his twelve seasons with Miami, starting 168 games. A true throwback type of player, Thomas recorded over 1,600 total tackles, 19.5 sacks, and 17 interceptions. He was also a 5-time First-Team All-Pro selection. In other words, he’s deserving of this honor and should have been enshrined by now.
It likely may be a case where they run out of numbers to place someone in, or popularity may be taken into consideration. But Zach Thomas deserves to be in right now. Hopefully, by next year, they are sizing his bust for Canton.
