NFL Offseason: Players likely to get overpaid

Darious Williams, CB

Darious Williams plays opposite Jalen Ramsey in LA, and he recently won a Super Bowl with the team.

In 2020, Williams had an exceptional season, grading out as one of the best corners in the NFL.  He had 4 interceptions and 14 passes defended, and LA looked to have found the next great corner.

In 2021, he was much less effective, being held without an interception, missing three games, and having 9 passes defended.

Additionally, Williams came into the league at an older age, so he’ll be 29 next month, which is creeping up to that big 3-0 age.

According to Spotrac, Williams can expect to earn a contract paying him more than $14 million per year, with a total projected contract value of nearly $60 million.

If a team pays him that much for one solid year of production, they are making a huge mistake.

While Williams has proven to be a solid corner, it is entirely possible his play is being elevated partly because of Jalen Ramsey.

Can Williams handle a team’s #1 wide receiver, because his projected market value should justify that?

I want my favorite team to stay far away from this potential signing.
