Dallas Cowboys Round 1 option No. 4: Daxton Hill, S, Michigan

One position that has been in a constant state of flux for Dallas is safety. They had a little stability with Xavier Woods but then he left in 2021 free agency and they suddenly went wild with signing free agents.

In came Damontae Kazee, Jayron Kearse, and Malik Hooker to play along with Donovan Wilson who started to turn into a playmaker as soon as Woods was about to leave. All three of the free-agent signings did well but Kearse was the huge surprise. He led the team in tackles and will now likely cost a lot to retain — and could price himself out of Big D.

Then again, with the way they bargain shop at the position, all three could have priced themselves out since they can command more than $1 million. That’s why it would make sense for the Cowboys to finally sink some premium draft stock in the position, which brings us to Daxton Hill from Michigan.

Listed at 6-foot-0 and 190-pounds, Hill is an ideal free safety which means even if they somehow can bring Kearse back, he would still be a great addition. He also has the flexibility to play in the slot, which would give Dallas one of the best cover safeties they have had in years.

Fans have been clamoring for some better safety play and they could very well get that with this prospect.
