Pittsburgh Maulers first-round QB in USFL Draft: Kyle Lauletta

The highest former NFL Draft pick among the first-round quarterbacks in the USFL Draft is former New York Giants fourth-round pick (108th overall) Kyle Lauletta.

In the 2018 NFL Draft, there were a number of folks that really liked the former Richmond star for his size, arm talent, and overall tools to work with. The Giants clearly agreed and used a pretty high pick on him.

Unfortunately for Lauletta, it didn’t work out and he has been fighting for his NFL life ever since. He’s had stints with the Eagles, Falcons, Browns, and Jaguars, and will now try his hand at putting some good things on tape for NFL talent evaluators with a bigger role in the USFL.

New Orleans Breakers first-round QB: Kyle Sloter

New Orleans Breakers head coach: Larry Fedora

Kyle Sloter has become a cult favorite for a couple of NFL teams for his stellar preseason play. Unfortunately, Sloter hasn’t been able to seize a regular role as a backup for any NFL team and hopefully, his time in the USFL will get him there.

He had a decent shot at some real regular season playing time for the Detroit Lions in 2019 before suffering an injury.

As it is, Sloter has yet to play in a regular season NFL game.

Even as the final pick of the first-round USFL quarterbacks, Sloter has been arguably the closest to breaking through and actually contributing to an NFL squad.
