NFL Throwback no. 3: Houston Oilers

The Houston Oilers uniforms need to make a comeback, but does it make much sense for the Tennessee Titans — who used to be the Houston Oilers — to rock them?

Maybe they could bring these ones back with some slight “Titans” modifications or something, but I think the Oilers uniform is one that needs a comeback.

NFL fans fawn over the Los Angeles Chargers powder blue looks, and a resurrected version of the Houston Oilers uniforms from the 90s would probably have general NFL fans going bonkers.

Vintage is in. The 90s are in. The Houston Oilers uniforms are classics, both their home and away versions. The blue tops with the white pants are an outstanding look but the white uniform tops look great with either the powder blue pants or white pants.

Like many uniforms in the 90s, it’s not the font of the lettering or numbers that really makes these uniforms stand out, it’s the pops of color all throughout and the placement of details.

For the Houston Oilers classic NFL throwback uniform, the red facemask is a tremendous touch along with the powder blue numbers and the vibrant red outline on the sleeves.

Not only are these Oilers uniforms absolutely fire, but just look at the sideline gear. That stuff would go absolutely crazy among NFL fans today.

If these three teams would resurrect their classic uniforms for a couple of games each season, those who really care about the visual aesthetic of the game would be greatly pleased.
