Amari Cooper landing spot No. 2: Philadelphia Eagles

When Amari Cooper was a free agent before the 2020 season, there were two teams that offered him massive deals. One was the Cowboys, who he ended up signing with. The other was the Washington Football Team — which is now the Washington Commanders.

They could still be interested in bringing Cooper to the nation’s capital but with their uncertainty at quarterback, he might not be interested in joining them. That doesn’t mean he wouldn’t consider joining a divisional rival, such as the Philadelphia Eagles.

Last season, Philly ended up making the playoffs with a record of 9-8 and while Jalen Hurts still has some development to go through as a starting quarterback, he’s been a solid leader. He could also take another step forward if they paired Cooper with DeVonta Smith — giving them a trifecta of Alabama talent.

The Eagles also know how Cooper can take over a game. In his first season with Dallas, he pulled in 10 receptions for 217 yards and three touchdowns including a game-winner in overtime.

Philly also has three picks in the opening round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Adding Cooper allows them to address another position besides wide receiver, which they have gone after in each of the past two drafts.

Dallas could end up regretting this move if Cooper goes to another team in the NFC East and that’s a real likelihood, especially given the Eagles’ need for a wideout.
