Denver Broncos: Three bold predictions for free agency

3. Sign J.C. Jackson

I have written about J.C. Jackson about 140 times already.  He’s a stud corner who has 25 interceptions through his first 4 seasons in the NFL.

At 26, Jackson is set to cash in with a massive payday, and the Patriots are apparently not placing the franchise tag on Jackson.

He will hit the open market and is projected to sign a contract that would pay him nearly $21 million per year, which would be the richest in NFL history.

The Denver Broncos boasted the league’s best secondary last season, but all of Kareem Jackson, Kyle Fuller, and Bryce Callahan are free agents, so they have a very underrated need here.

They have Ronald Darby, Justin Simmons, and Patrick Surtain II under contract, but there is no reason to believe they won’t continue to add pieces to that unit.

Being in the AFC West forces you to assemble the best defense possible, and Jackson can help keep Denver’s secondary among the league’s very best.

Denver has the cap space to get it done, and if they do indeed acquire Jimmy Garoppolo, signing a stud on defense makes even more sense.
