Houston Texans replace Deshaun Watson in 2022 NFL Mock Draft

13. Houston Texans (via Cleveland Browns): Kenny Pickett, QB, Pitt

In their trade that sent Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns, the Houston Texans elected not to try and pry Baker Mayfield from Watson’s new club. They seem willing to let Davis Mills try and prove he’s the guy but they have to be wondering in private if this is the right move.

Instead of just hoping for him to develop, they use the first of three picks in Round 1 they obtained from the Browns to bring in Kenny Pickett from Pitt. There were concerns about Pickett’s hand size and how he would do playing in the NFL and staying in cold weather — yes he played at Pitt but the ball is a bit smaller in the NCAA.

In Houston, he won’t have to worry about that as he will play at least nine games in a dome and another in Jacksonville and Nashville each. He could find success with the Texans, especially if they hit on the remaining picks they got in this trade.

14. Baltimore Ravens: Trevor Penning, OT, Northern Iowa

Lamar Jackson was just one of many Baltimore Ravens to suffer an injury last season but his was the most impactful. In an effort to keep him healthy, the Ravens bring in Trevor Penning from Northern Iowa.

He could replace Alejandro Villanueva as the starting right tackle but also has the tools to play on the left side if Ronnie Stanley continues to have issues staying on the field.
