Denver Broncos ideal options with top pick: Kyler Gordon, CB, Washington

Even after using the 9th overall pick somewhat surprisingly last year on Pat Surtain II, the Denver Broncos could turn right around and use their top pick in the 2022 NFL Draft on a cornerback yet again.

The Broncos do have a starting trio of Surtain, Ronald Darby, and K’Waun Williams. With that being said, they do not currently have a solidified situation behind those players.

Michael Ojemudia, a third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, was injured most of last season and was inconsistent as a rookie. He should still be a good scheme fit for new defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, but it remains to be seen what the new coaching staff and revamped front office really thinks of Ojemudia.

Would they be okay with him starting in case of injury?

I’m not so sure.

One of the top options I think the Denver Broncos could consider if they were to trade up in round two is a player like Kyler Gordon out of Washington, who has proven inside/outside versatility and outstanding play speed.

Gordon is aggressive, instinctive, and he can also contribute right away to your special teams unit.
