AFC North pre-2022 NFL Draft roster grades

3. Pittsburgh Steelers – B+

I really like what the Steelers did in free agency.  With the departure of Ben Roethlisberger, they brought in Mitchell Trubisky, presumably to start for the team.

Trubisky still has some talent, and I think could really excel in Pittsburgh.  I do think the Steelers will draft a quarterback in the first round.  Trubisky’s ceiling is rather low, but he can keep the team competitive until they’re ready to move on.

They also helped out Trubisky by signing two talented offensive linemen in James Daniels, who can play center and guard, and Mason Cole, who can play both as well.

Pittsburgh took steps to improve their offensive line, and they also brought in talented cornerback Levi Wallace and linebacker Myles Jack.  Look for the Steelers’ rushing defense to improve in 2022, and watch out for the offensive line to take a step forward as well.

I’m not sure the Steelers sniff the playoffs because of how talented the AFC is, but don’t be surprised if they have a winning record.

I think Mitchell Trubisky allows the Steelers to perhaps get back to what they’ve done before– couple a good enough quarterback with a strong running game and a good defense.

If Najee Harris can take a leap in year two, the offense can make some noise, but they’ll also have to find someone who could replace Juju Smith-Schuster, who signed with the Chiefs.
