124. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Minnesota. Boye Mafe. player. EDGE. 29

29. Kansas City Chiefs (via San Francisco 49ers through Miami Dolphins): Boye Mafe, EDGE, Minnesota

The Miami Dolphins originally secured this pick in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers but then they traded the selection to the Kansas City Chiefs as part of the massive bundle they sent for Tyreek Hill. With two selections back-to-back, they start out by reinforcing their pass rush with the addition of Boye Mafe from Minnesota.

A quick climber, Mafe is being seen as a late day-one prospect and could be a solid fit in the Chiefs 3-4 scheme. Mafe recorded 7.0 sacks this past season as he developed into a solid pass rusher who slides into the first round of this mock.

Michigan. Daxton Hill. 30. player. 124. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. S/CB

30. Kansas City Chiefs: Daxton Hill, S/CB, Michigan

It would be tempting for the Kansas City Chiefs to go with a wide receiver after losing Tyreek Hill but this class is deep and they did add JuJu Smith-Schuster who could do well in this system.

They also have other needs, including at safety where they’re going to have to replace free agent Tyrann Mathieu — and while they’re banking on Justin Reid, he might not be enough.

That’s why they grab Daxton Hill from Michigan at No. 30, giving them one of the better safeties in this class. Hill is capable of playing deep coverage, in the box, and in the slot as well. He should be a solid chess piece for a defense that needs to get a lot younger‚— and just did with these two selections.
