Most improved team after the 2022 NFL Draft no. 2: Philadelphia Eagles

Howie Roseman is riding high after a successful 2022 NFL Draft. No one knew that the Eagles would set the league on fire on Day 1. Fans knew the Eagles needed another wideout after Jalen Rager failed to live up to the hype.

With the No. 18 pick, the stage was set, and the Eagles took full advantage by trading for A.J. Brown instead of drafting a rookie.

The blockbuster trade netted them one of the best young wideouts in the league. He’ll make for an excellent running mate to DeVonta Smith, who proved he was capable of dominating at the pro level. Jalen Hurts has all the weapons to be successful in year three. Will he live up to expectations?

Anyone who’s seen Jordan Davis knows he’s a mammoth of a man and an extraordinary athlete. At 6-6 341-pounds, Davis ran a jaw-dropping 4.76 40-yard dash. He’s a powerful player who fits as a two-down gap defender. However, he has the athleticism, length, and strength to develop into an interior pass rusher.

Roseman didn’t hold back with improving the trenches. The GM turned the car for center Cam Jurgens. The 6-3 303-pound Nebraska center is ready-made for the interior. He could fight for a starting guard position, but he’ll eventually replace Jason Kelce.

Some teams had Jurgens as the No. 1 center because of his physicality and sturdiness at the point. He’s a great mover in space who can reach the three-technique.

In fact, he showed off his athleticism by running a 4.9 40-yard dash at the 2022 NFL Combine. Jurgens is a future anchor for the Eagles franchise as he looks to replace the greatness that is Jason Kelce.

Nakobe Dean’s injury was a blessing in disguise for the Eagles, who came away with the steal of Day 2. The former Bulldog will team up with the man that kept him clean and allowed him to make plays, Jordan Davis. Dean’s ability goes beyond his sideline to sideline speed. He’s an IQ backer that commands the defense.

His versatility comes as a coverage guy in both man and zone. Dean is a dynamic linebacker who’ll make their defense better.

The Eagles doubled down on linebacker with Kyron Johnson, a sideline to sideline backer who could earn a roster spot for a team in dire need of linebacker help. They also drafted tight end Grant Calcaterra, a player with good speed, hands, and who knows how to exploit zone coverage.
