Best NFL trade no. 2: Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders

I think there are still a lot of people out there that view the wide receiver position in today’s NFL as a “luxury” position instead of a cornerstone position on a roster.

Previously, the only positions thought to hold the title of “premium” on a roster were positions like quarterback, left tackle, and edge rusher.

In recent years, cornerback has joined that mix. Right tackle is creeping into the mix. And wide receiver is undoubtedly in the mix as a premium position in the NFL.

That’s why this move is graded so highly, at least for me.

The Las Vegas Raiders managed to get arguably the best player at one of the most important positions in the league for the price of a late-first and late-second-round pick.

This trade was horrendous for the Packers, in all honesty.

Even if Quay Walker and Christian Watson end up being great players, it should have taken at least what the Dolphins gave up for Tyreek Hill to get Adams out of Green Bay and away from Aaron Rodgers, who is in the final years of his NFL career.

Not only were the Raiders able to add an elite playmaker at one of the game’s most important positions, they got him at a good value and they also reunited two college teammates in the process.

Davante Adams joins his former Fresno State teammate Derek Carr in Las Vegas and there is very little question about the chemistry these two guys had back then, and will undoubtedly still have today.

This move is absolutely massive for the Raiders.
