Detroit Lions: Jarrad Davis, LB

After beginning his career with the Detroit Lions, Jarrad Davis headed to New York to play for the Jets in 2021. After one frustrating season, he returned to the Lions on a one-year deal.

He now shares the field with Alex Anzalone, Derrick Barnes, and Malcolm Rodriguez. That could lead to Davis not making the 53-man roster as he aims to return to the team he began his career with.

Green Bay Packers: Dean Lowry, DT

The Green Bay Packers added linebacker Quay Walker and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt from the Georgia Bulldogs in Round 1 this season and both should be starters by Week 1.

With Wyatt sliding into the defensive line, that could leave Dean Lowry on the outside looking in, after starting 17 games in 2022. Cody Williams of FanSided also sees Lowry as a potential release. saying he’s a “replacement level” player, and Wyatt is possibly the replacement.

"“Lowry was a 2016 fourth-round pick out of Northwestern and, to be sure, he’s never been bad. However, it’s also just as easy to say he’s never been good or great either. To put it simply, he’s been a replacement level player or slightly above for most of his career. When you factor that into the consideration that the Packers could save $5.95 million against the salary cap by designating him as a post-June 1 cut, it would make a lot of sense if this was a bit of a changing of the guard along the defensive line in Titletown.” — Williams, FanSided"

Lowry has put together a nice career with the Packers and turned into a full-time starter in 2019. Last season, he had 42 tackles and five sacks which is why it would be a surprise to see him let go.

However, the money the team could save — while still having a better starter — makes this one worth watching.
