3 NFL players in a make or break year in 2022 season
NFL players in a make or break year in 2022
1. Carson Wentz, QB, Washington Commanders
Perhaps the player under the most pressure currently in the NFL is none other than Carson Wentz of the Washington Commanders, who is entering his third team in three years.
Wentz’s 2020 season in Philadelphia prompted the Eagles to trade him to the Colts. Wentz was much better in 2021, passing for 27 touchdowns on just seven interceptions.
However, his late-season collapse essentially forced the Colts to get rid of him, as they figured that he couldn’t be trusted to be the long-term answer.
Now in Washington, this should be his last chance to show his worth in the NFL as a franchise quarterback. We’ve all seen how talented he is and how well he can play. It could be a mystery to some why this sudden drop-off happened, but it did, and this is perhaps his last stop as a viable starter.
I actually like Carson Wentz’s chances in 2022. I think the Commanders’ roster is stellar. They’ve got a quality offensive line, good running backs, very good receivers, a viable tight end, and absolute studs on defense, all in a division that is clearly up for grabs in the NFC East.
The Cowboys got worse, and I don’t think the Giants are going to make a one-year turnaround.
Wentz is the second-best QB in the division behind Dak Prescott and might get a bit of a revenge tour playing against his old team and rivals.
However it shakes out, Carson Wentz is under a ton of pressure in a make-or-break season in 2022.
