Dallas Cowboys: Jonathan Garibay, K, Texas Tech

K. player. Scouting Report. K. 123. Pick Analysis. Texas Tech. Jonathan Garibay

For the past two seasons, the Dallas Cowboys had Greg Zuerlein as their placekicker — and it was a bit of a rollercoaster. He hit his share of game-winners, and many of those were from pretty far out.

There was also the famous ‘helicopter’ onside kick that led to an unbelievable comeback over the Atlanta Falcons in 2020.

But even with his heroics, he was one of the more sporadic kickers in the game. Zuerlein missed 22 total kicks (between field goals and extra points) in his two seasons, which is why the Cowboys released him.

They did try and lure him back on a more affordable deal but Greg the Leg headed to New York to play for the Jets.

With him out, the Cowboys had just Chris Nagger on the roster — until they added undrafted rookie Jonathan Garibay. The Texas Tech product is known for his strong leg and made the rounds when he knocked in a 62-yard game-winner.

Dallas clearly feels great about him because they let Naggar go early in May, leaving just Garibay on the roster. Right now, he has the inside track to the job which makes him the most likely member of the team to make it as an undrafted free agent.
