Projecting next big quarterback contracts in the NFL

4. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Justin Herbert’s first two seasons in the NFL are better than anything we’ve seen from a quarterback.

Throwing for over 9,000 over two years, he’s got the most passing yards and passing touchdowns than other QB through their first two seasons.

Herbert is already a top seven signal-caller and should take a massive leap next year, given that he’ll be in year two of Joe Lombardi’s offensive system.

Again, it’s common to see quarterbacks sign their first extension after their third year in the NFL.  Being that Herbert is set to enter year three, he’ll surely be given an extension next offseason.

I think Herbert and Joe Burrow are going to totally reset the market for quarterbacks.  While Joe Burrow has had more success after two years, Herbert might be the more talented player.

Herbert has shown the ability to be able to go blow for blow with his fellow young-stud rival, Patrick Mahomes.  Obviously, there is no way that an extension for Herbert in LA doesn’t happen.

He’s someone who can win multiple MVP awards, a Super Bowl or two and will rack up a ton of passing yards and touchdowns.

Look for Justin Herbert to break the bank next offseason.

Prediction: six years, $312 million ($52 million AAV)
