DK Metcalf trade option No. 1: Green Bay Packers

After trading Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason, the Green Bay Packers are left with a wide receiving corps that has a lot of questions.

They have veteran Randall Cobb who was once a 1,200-yard receiver, but he had just 375 yards on 28 receptions last season. There’s also Allen Lazard, who is a solid third option but has never had more than 513-yards in a season — which he had last year.

As for their No. 1 target, that could end up being rookie second-round pick Christian Watson. While Watson has more than enough talent, he comes from a small program (North Dakota State has produced some solid players but they don’t play against elite competition) and it might not be the best plan to lean heavily on him when this is a team built to win it all.

That’s why it would make sense for the Packers to trade for DK Metcalf, who would instantly upgrade the passing options Aaron Rodgers would have at his disposal.

Rodgers enters this season at 38 and will turn 39 in December. He’s also been speaking about life after football, meaning the window for him to win another title isn’t huge.

Adding Metcalf would maximize the time he has left, and would arguably make the Packers the top contender in the NFC.
