NFL matchup no. 3: Davante Adams vs. JC Jackson

This matchup truly has the potential to be in the top two spots but Davante Adams and JC Jackson have not actually had a true meeting up until this point.

JC Jackson is new to the AFC West after joining the Los Angeles Chargers after the New England Patriots let him loose. Jackson however is wasting no time initializing a rivalry between himself and the Las Vegas Raiders high profile acquisition, #1 receiver (in the NFL) Davante Adams.

Jackson was asked in an interview about facing Davante Adams for truly the first time as they did not link up when the Packers played the Patriots in 2018. Jackson’s reply was enough to ensure the birth of a new rivalry between the two competitors.

Jackson performed admirably in New England, especially when it came to interceptions, however, he did have the luxury of having Stephon Gilmore on the other side of the field for most of his career.

Still, in 2021 Jackson led the league in passes defended with 23 and was 2nd in the league in interceptions with 8. Jackson still had his hands full last season and struggled against an AFC East foe, receiver Stefon Diggs.

It is the opinion of this writer that Davante Adams is even better than Diggs and Jackson may be biting off more than he can chew.

Jackson fancies himself a top cornerback in the league and clearly, the Chargers agreed but there are a host of receivers the fifth-year defender has not faced yet.

The AFC West is slated to be the most competitive division in the NFL in 2022 but if this newly created rivalry pans out the Jackson-Adams matchup could take the #1 spot this time next year.
