NFL matchup no. 2: Mike Evans vs. Marshon Lattimore

Let’s face it, this is likely Tom Brady’s last last season. Again.

The Tampa Buccanneers are going to go all out to pay back the star quarterback that led them to a Lombardi Trophy in 2020. One player that seemed especially grateful to Brady is his top receiver, Mike Evans.

Aside from feeling a sense of duty and loyalty to Brady to send him off right, the Bucs face the Saints twice a season.

The friction between the two teams is palpable and fans always look forward to the inter-conference matchup between the Saints and Bucs.

What makes this even more enticing of a matchup is that Mike Evans routinely draws the best defender on the Saints. In this case that is cornerback Marshon Lattimore who just received a significant extension from the Saints.

Anyone that watches these two teams (or Monday morning highlights) knows about the history between Evans and Lattimore.

These two competitors have been fighting since the Jameis Winston era in Tampa Bay where Evans pushed Lattimore to the ground and Evans was suspended briefly after the altercation.

In 2020 Evans and Lattimore were engaged in their normal physical play which turned into shoving matches and penalties on both sides.

Lattimore has even taken to social media to remind Evans he has been successful in certain games.

Lattimore, who is already a physical corner by nature, definitely intensifies his physicality when lined up against Evans and we cannot get enough of it.

Lattimore has not always emerged the victor as Evans secured multiple touchdowns in recent seasons although his total receiving yards have always been limited when Lattimore shadows him.

This rivalry is not cooling off and watching this two times a season is an absolute treat.
