6 unlikely NFL reunions that actually happened in recent history
Strange NFL reunion no. 4: Charles Woodson to the Raiders
There are some pro athletes you look at and can’t help but simply be in awe.
Charles Woodson was an ageless wonder as an NFL defensive back and even though he’s in the Hall of Fame and hasn’t played since 2015, doesn’t it feel like he could just go out there and pick off three or four passes?
Creating turnovers was all Woodson knew, even up until the age of 39 when he last played for the Oakland Raiders.
Not all of Woodson’s 65 interceptions came in silver and black, however.
After the 2005 season, Woodson hit free agency and signed with the Green Bay Packers, who have long been notorious for not signing big-name NFL Free Agents.
During his 100 regular season games with the Packers, Woodson was one of the most dominant defensive players in the entire NFL.
He picked off 38 passes and forced 15 fumbles, scoring a whopping 10 defensive touchdowns in the process.
In the playoffs, Woodson was a key piece of the Packers’ defense that helped win the team’s most recent Super Bowl.
By the time Woodson was done in Green Bay, it felt like his NFL career was coming to a close.
He was let go after his age 36 season, but kept on going.
In 2013, Woodson signed back with the Oakland Raiders after seven years with the Packers, and it was like he never left.
The silver and black faithful of Raiders Nation welcomed Woodson back with open arms, and he rewarded them with another 10 interceptions in his three seasons and cementing his legacy as one of the all-time greats.
