Strange NFL reunion no. 3: DeSean Jackson to the Eagles

Scouting Report. WR. 3. Pick Analysis. Eagles. DeSean Jackson. player. 54

After establishing himself as one of the best vertical speed threats in the entire NFL from 2008-2013, DeSean Jackson hit free agency in the 2014 offseason and did what many fans dread when their beloved players are allowed to walk:

He signed with a bitter rival.

Jackson signed with Washington in the 2014 offseason and continued to do what he’s always done best — stretch the field.

He played three seasons for Washington and averaged almost 21 yards per reception in his first season with the team.

In 2017 and 2018, Jackson moved to the NFC South to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he was his usual self, averaging over 18 yards per catch and making big plays.

In the 2019 offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles found themselves in need of a vertical speed threat and even though he was 33 years old at this point, there still weren’t many better options than DeSean Jackson.

So the two came together in 2019 for a glorious return to Philly and in Jackson’s 2019 debut, he did not disappoint.

Jackson caught eight passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns in his first game back with the Eagles.

Unfortunately, that euphoric and nostalgic return would be spoiled by injuries and Jackson would catch just one pass the remainder of the 2019 season.

He was back with the Eagles in 2020 and played in just five games once again, catching one more touchdown pass before moving on in 2021 to the Rams and Raiders.
