Dallas Cowboys top offseason pickup no. 2: WR Jalen Tolbert (South Alabama)

Despite a shaky performance in the playoff loss to the Niners, Cowboys’ quarterback Dak Prescott comes off a big bounced back fairly well after missing the final 11 games of 2020.

He hit on a career-best 68.8 percent of his throws for 4,449 yards, a personal-high 37 touchdown passes and just 10 interceptions in 16 regular-season contests. He did fumble 14 times and lost six of those miscues.

But duplicating that kind of production could be tricky in 2022. All told, Dallas’ wide receiver corps took some big hits this offseason in terms of departures.

After three-plus seasons, 292 catches, and 27 touchdowns with the club, Amari Copper was traded to the Cleveland Browns. And emerging Cedrick Wilson left the team via free agency and signed with the Miami Dolphins.

Mike McCarthy’s team still has CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup – the former leading the club with 79 catches and 1,102 receiving yards in 2021. And the Cowboys signed free-agent James Washington (Steelers).

After a quiet freshman year at South Alabama, wideout Jalen Tolbert combined for 173 receptions, 3,080 yards, and 22 scores last three years. Dallas used a third-round pick on the 6’3”, 290-pound prospect and he could make his presence felt immediately.
