Jimmy Garoppolo option no. 3: Houston Texans

player. 10. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. . . Houston Texans. 3

The Houston Texans have had an interest in acquiring just about, well, everyone in the last couple of years it seems.

And not just anyone, but just about everyone.

It feels like no other team in the NFL has made more roster changes than the Houston Texans, led by former New England Patriots executive Nick Caserio.

Houston was obviously in need of some wholesale changes, and Caserio made those happen.

This offseason, they finally rid themselves of Deshaun Watson but there may be some lingering issues within the organization regarding everything that went down in that situation.

Even with that considered, Houston has plenty of draft capital to work with and plenty of incentive to trade for someone like Jimmy Garoppolo.

Obviously, Caserio knows him well from their time together in New England, and the Texans are rolling into this coming season with Davis Mills at the QB position.

Is there anything wrong with their current plan to stick with Mills after what we saw from him last year?

Absolutely not.

Is Garoppolo a preferable alternative?

Yes.

The question the Texans have to answer is simple — Do they want to have a decent record in 2022 or not?

Do they want to have a better chance at having a bad record? Then trading for Garoppolo is not the move.

If they want to compete in the pretty wide-open AFC South, then trading for Jimmy Garoppolo definitely is the move.
