Minnesota Vikings: Eric Kendricks, LB

At first glance, it might sound crazy to call Erick Kendricks overrated. The Minnesota Vikings linebacker just racked up a career-high 143 tackles this past season and has recorded at least 107 in every season since his rookie campaign — and that year, he had 92 tackles.

The problem is, his stats look much more impressive than what he’s been doing on the field as of late. Adam Patrick of The Viking Age said as much when he named Kendricks the most overrated player on Minnesota’s roster heading into the 2022 season.

"“Kendricks finished the 2021 campaign with a 59.9 grade from PFF, his lowest since his rookie season in 2015. His grade also ranked 37th among all eligible linebackers in the NFL last year. What impacted Kendricks’ evaluation the most last season was his performance against the run. He ended up ranking 64th by PFF in run defense grade among linebackers in 2021 and he also finished the campaign with 17 missed tackles, the second-highest single-season total of his career” — Patrick, The Viking Age"

Patrick added that Kendricks just turned 30, meaning it’s also very likely that his best days are behind him. This doesn’t mean there won’t be a role for him with the Vikings but he might not be playing at a Pro Bowl level anytime soon.
