New York Jets: Corey Davis, WR

It’s easy to see why the New York Jets like Corey Davis. The former Tennessee Titans wideout signed a big contract ahead of the 2021 season after recording 65 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns the season prior.

He’s a guy who can get deep and he and rookie quarterback Zach Wilson even had some solid connections during their first season working together.

Unfortunately, not everything went well for Davis and the Jets. Not only did he end the season with a hip injury — playing in just nine games — but he had issues creating consistent separation and had a few costly drops as well, which was pointed out by Andrew Golden of Jets X-Factor.

"“Corey Davis was supposed to be the Jets’ new ‘WR1’ after signing a three-year contract worth $37.5 million. His first year in New York did not go as he or the team had planned, though. Davis struggled with drops and separation early in the year, playing nine games before hip and groin injuries ended his season. Across those nine games, Davis caught 34 passes for 492 yards and four touchdowns with five drops.”"

The good news for Davis is that Elijah Moore was great as a rookie and Garrett Wilson is also now with the franchise. The talent around him should help draw attention away as he hopes to rebound in 2022.
