Madden 23 ratings: Antonio Gibson, RB, Washington Commanders
What if I told you there was a guy who finished inside the Top 8 in every major statistical category for running backs?
What if I told you there was a running back who rushed for over 1,000 yards on a team with bad quarterback play?
That player is, of course, Antonio Gibson.
The former Memphis star stepped up in his second season with the Washington Commanders. In 16 games he rushed for 1,037 yards which — 6th best in the NFL. More than 10 backs who rushed for fewer yards ranked ahead of him in Madden.
His 65 first downs were second behind Jonathan Taylor, and he ended the season with seven touchdowns.
The former third-round pick is one of the better running backs out of the backfield, ending the 2021 season with 42 catches and three touchdowns.
Gibson is the type of back who can carry an offense. Despite the bad quarterback play, Gibson proved he’s one of the best young backs in the NFL. Unfortunately, Madden creators felt he was the 31st best back in the game.
His 80 rating is way too low. The Commanders running back’s overall should be at least an 84.
