2. Kerry Hyder, EDGE

Kerry Hyder, Jr. isn’t a household name but he’s a very talented defensive end who has put together a respectable NFL career. The 6-foot-2, 275-pounder spent the first four seasons of his career with the Detroit Lions before joining the Dallas Cowboys in 2019.

After one year in Big D, he headed to the Niners and has been there the past two seasons. In his first campaign with San Francisco, he had 49 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and 32 quarterback pressures. He also played in 75 percent of their defensive snaps.

In 2021, that percentage went down to 45 and he saw a dip in numbers as well. Hyder finished with 33 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and just 13 pressures.

Now in 2022, he finds himself in a crowded defensive end corps with Nick Bosa, Samson Ebukam, Drake Jackson, Charles Omenihu, Kemoko Turay, and Jordan Willis all in the mix.

There’s a very real chance he could find himself on the outside looking in, but he’s not a player that should be unemployed for long. A seven-year vet, Hyder can play on the edge and also has the ability to slide inside in obvious passing situations.

San Francisco has several players who can do this but it would be enticing to many teams to add a savvy veteran with some flexibility.
