NFL Week 1 overreaction no. 1: Mitch Trubisky will help lead the Steelers to the playoffs

The clock began ticking on Mitch Trubisky the moment the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Kenny Pickett. One slips up from the former first-round pick, and he’ll find himself in a familiar role as a backup to an up-and-coming quarterback. With a win under his belt and a rookie breathing down his neck, Trubisky will continue to make a name for himself. He knows there’s a team that will need a young signal-caller with experience, which means he can get paid like a starting quarterback. The Steelers haven’t scratched the surface on offense.

Najee Harris is one of the top three duo backs in the league. He can also carry the ball 25 times a game. Outside he has the second-best wide receiver core in the division led by Diontae Johnson. The last time Trubisky had weapons like this, he tossed 24 touchdowns, completing 66.6% of his passes en route to the playoffs. He also had one of the better defenses in 2018.

History is repeating itself with a defense starring TJ Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick. Even with Watt missing time, the Steelers’ offensive roster is tailor-made for success and Trubisky is the man to lead them there.
