Last season the Colts had a solid offense with Carson Wentz at quarterback. They were Top 10 in scoring thanks to Jonathan Taylor carrying the offense. Wentz tossed 27 touchdowns to just seven interceptions — that wasn’t good enough. The Colts moved on to Matt Ryan, who scored zero points against the Jaguars in week two while throwing three interceptions.

He looks old, and his inability to escape pressure must have Colts fans wishing they kept Carson Wentz. There were rumors about the head coach, Frank Reich, having to apologize for bringing in Wentz. Who’s going to apologize for forcing him to coach up Matt Ryan?

Some may point to the absence of Michael Pitman, but that doesn’t excuse away Ryan’s mistakes and stagnant play. The Colts have too much talent to mail it in, so a quarterback change may be what they need. Nick Foles knows the offense and the division. He also won a Super Bowl with Reich with the Eagles.

And there’s also Sam Ehlinger, a young quarterback who played well in spots. Reich is on the hot seat after an early rough start. Perhaps he’d look to Ellinger to light a fire under the offense.
