Round 3 Pick 90 VIA TRADE: Jack Campbell, LB, Iowa

Wow. That’s the first word that comes to mind because of Jack Campbell’s height. He is 6’5″, which is quite tall for a linebacker. However, his athletic upside makes him stand out, in addition to his leadership. Additionally, though his frame is a bit taller than today’s folks, Campbell has a knack for running to the football and providing a strong voice in the locker room.

Moreover, he’s rarely out of position on the field and can run sideline to sideline. A concern might be his run-stuffing, and his coverage skills, at times, can be a bit shaky. However, that can be cleaned up with good coaching. He has the physical tools to be a contributor right away for the Bears. Still, he is a bit raw despite coming into the NFL as a senior player in college.

That shouldn’t discourage teams from taking a look or even selecting him in the draft. But the Bears must take as many fliers on these players as possible. They must be fast, quick, athletic, physical, and intelligent. Jack Campbell fits most of those traits and should be targeted by Chicago come next April.
