Round 7 Pick 217 VIA TRADE: Dalton Kincaid, TE, Utah

Cole Kmet says all the right things, but the competition behind him is pretty thin. The Chicago Bears will need some help at the tight end position, and it should not be such a premium pick. There’s a particular type of tight end that the Bears require. At the same time, tight ends can be found in later rounds and produce high results.

Dalton Kincaid is an underrated name despite being one of the critical components of the Utah Utes offense. Kincaid was part of the team that won the Pac-12 title and advanced to the Rose Bowl. So far, in 2022, Kincaid has 16 catches for 240 yards and four scores. Underrated but a scoring machine.

Kincaid will likely be used as a red zone target, but he struggles with consistently separating from defenders. Plus, even though he is 6’4″ 240 pounds, his frame is not so imposing that defenses will have trouble dealing with him. It will be on the Bears to find out what he does best and incorporate that into their system so that he can become a reliable target for the team.

Round 7 Pick 219 VIA TRADE: Adisa Isaac, DE, Penn State

In April, the Chicago Bears selected Dominique Robinson due in large part to his many athletic traits and raw talent. So far, the investment has looked promising, and it’s highly likely the Bears may choose to go this route again. Additionally, late-round pass rushers come in with more to prove, and Chicago, for all its faults, prides itself on finding strong pass rushers.

Meet Adisa Isaac. The Penn State product doesn’t get as much credit as some of the other rushers in the draft class, but his athleticism cannot be ignored, nor can his quickness off the line of scrimmage. With violent hands, he is feisty for offensive linemen and can draw holds. The ability to drop back into coverage when asked cannot also be ignored.

That said, he is extremely raw. Still, having young, raw talent as insurance on a roster is more of a boon than a curse. The Chicago Bears will likely ask him to put on a bit more weight and fill out his frame, but his toolbox cannot be ignored, and Chicago could potentially find themselves a serviceable player with such a late pick.
