Can the Chicago Bears’ running game continue to succeed?

The one positive for the Chicago Bears offense is the running game. Chicago’s running game ranks third in yards, sixth in touchdowns, and fourth in average yards per run. The Bears have to continue to run the ball to have any chance of winning this game. Starting running back David Montgomery likely misses his second straight game with knee and ankle injuries.

Khalil Herbert starts in Montgomery’s place. He’s done a pretty good job so far. He has 317 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Also, he averages 6.1 yards per rush.

In addition to Herbert, quarterback Justin Fields gets his yards running. He has 34 rushes, most by a quarterback. He has 147 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown, averaging 4.3 yards per rush.

As I mentioned earlier, the Vikings struggle mightily against the run. Hopefully, the Bears can get big chunks of yards. Then, when the Vikings creep up to try to stop the run, Fields could then open up and throw more to make them pay for it.

If the Bears are not able to establish the running game it will be a long day for them. They have a strong running game and they have to show it on Sunday.
