The Chicago Bears face an impactful offseason. Now that the Super Bowl is over the focus is now on this important offseason. General manager Ryan Poles did a great job of preparing for this moment. He has eight draft picks, including the number one overall pick. He can trade that pick to acquire even more picks.

First up, however, is free agency. The new league year begins on March 15th. That also starts the NFL free agency period. Players get to sign new contracts possibly with their old teams but, more likely, with different teams. We’ll see a great deal of them moving on to wear new uniforms.

Chicago Bears free agency: Underrated WRs the team could target

With free agency, teams get a chance to upgrade their rosters. They target players they feel fit well with their systems. Poles prepared well for that as well. The Bears will have the biggest salary cap space available. They have about $98 million in cap space. With a couple of more cuts that amount will rise.

Poles can target any player he wishes and get him. He won’t go crazy but should there be a player he feels he must have, he’ll have an advantage over any other team.

One of the areas that need a serious upgrade is at wide receiver. The unit really struggled in 2022. The receivers could not create any separation and weren’t able to get open quickly enough. Also, once they were targeted, they weren’t able to make plays. Too many times we saw them drop passes on key third downs and in the end zone.

Quarterback Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears offense need to have dependable receivers who can make plays. Poles will likely pick a receiver or two in the draft. The offense also needs some veteran help as well, however. Those veterans can help the youngsters find their footing.

With the franchise period starting already, there might be some surprise players who could be available. However, for now, here are some players Poles and the Chicago Bears should target.
