The offseason is here. The Chicago Bears, as well as every other team in the league, are preparing for the new league year, which is less than three weeks away (March 15).

General manager Ryan Poles has the Bears set up to have an incredibly impactful offseason. He has over $100 million in salary cap space and has the number one overall pick in the draft. That means he has the assets to quickly advance the rebuild.

Of course, the Bears have a lot of holes to fill. There are more holes in the roster than a sinking boat that’s been shot up.

Chicago Bears 2023 offseason: Defensive tackle a major priority

One of the biggest areas of concern is defensive tackle. The Chicago Bears have a history of having big guys up the middle who stuff the opponents’ running game. That hasn’t happened in the last couple of seasons, however. Since the retirement of Eddie Goldman after the 2021 season, offenses have found it easy to gash the Bears’ defense.

Poles wants to change that. He wants to find the big guy who can plug things up and prevent teams from running the ball down Chicago’s throat.

There is speculation whether Poles gets a defensive tackle in the draft or free agency. The Bears also have a need at defensive end and those two work hand-in-hand. If the tackle isn’t doing his job, it’ll be difficult for the end to do his.

The prevailing thought is that Poles splits the difference. He likely gets one of the positions through free agency then picks up the other with his first pick (whether it’s the number one or he trades down).

For this situation, we have Poles selecting a tackle. Here are three choices.
