The NFL offseason is a time typically for plenty of optimism. Teams are given a clean slate. Everyone is undefeated. Free agency and the NFL Draft are exciting. But for some NFL teams, even the excitement of NFL free agency and the 2023 NFL Draft could soon be drowned out by the harsh reality that disaster is coming.

More than a handful of teams are on the brink of an absolute collapse, perhaps even starting a total roster overhaul and rebuild in 2023. This doesn’t include teams that are already residents of rock bottom. This list includes teams that have been competitive if not contenders in recent years.

And now, their time is coming…

5. Tennessee Titans

Things are quickly progressing toward disaster for the Tennessee Titans. The Titans deserve a ton of respect, though. They haven’t had the best roster in the NFL in recent years, but they have one of the league’s best coaches in Mike Vrabel, and having Vrabel’s coaching has been a tremendous advantage for them.

As good as Vrabel has been, I think things are about to hit the fan for the Titans barring the acquisition of someone like Aaron Rodgers in 2023. The Titans had the 28th-ranked scoring offense in the NFL this past season. They traded away their best weapon in the passing game last offseason, sending AJ Brown to the Eagles.

They fired GM Jon Robinson and replaced him with Ran Carthon, who is already well underway putting the roster together his way:

  • OT Taylor Lewan cut
  • WR Robert Woods cut
  • K Randy Bullock cut

Ryan Tannehill got the “right now” talk at the NFL Scouting Combine when asked about his status with the team. You can just sense a reset coming for the Titans.
