Forget Aaron Rodgers, Jets should go after Lamar Jackson

An Aaron Rodgers trade to the New York Jets doesn’t seem close. For that reason, New York should turn their attention to Lamar Jackson.  Mike Florio provided a bit of an update on the situation between the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets regarding four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The Packers have apparently backed off on wanting the Jets’ first-round pick in 2023, according to Florio, who was on the Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday.  Florio also tossed out the words unreasonable and irrational in describing how the Packers have behaved during this process.

A couple of weeks ago, Aaron Rodgers informed the sports world that he had intentions of playing for the New York Jets during the 2023 season, even though shortly before that, he was heavily leaning towards retirement after coming out of his darkness retreat.

I think many of us just then assumed that Rodgers would find himself as a Jet in short order, but that does not appear to be the case.  I think if the Packers and Jets continue to go back and forth on trying to come up with a fair package for the MVP QB, the Jets should simply turn their focus to Lamar Jackson, another MVP QB who on March 2nd, requested a trade from the Baltimore Ravens.

Wouldn’t the Jets going after Jackson make so much more sense?  Obviously, it might be much harder for them to land Jackson, but if they don’t want to give up what the Packers are looking for, then why not look down a different path?

Jackson is nearly 15 years younger than Rodgers and would give the Jets the long-term stability they’ve been looking for from the QB spot.

If they could do that, the Packers would likely be left scrambling and trying to find a legitimate solution and ending to the Aaron Rodgers era.

Jets’ General Manager Joe Douglas should pivot off of this Aaron Rodgers mess and should turn his attention to Lamar Jackson.
