2023 NFL Draft: Bijan Robinson would put Buffalo Bills over the top

Last season did not end how the Buffalo Bills anticipated. After cruising to a 13-3 record in the regular season, the Bills’ season ended with a 27-10 Divisional Round loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Without any major additions made so far this offseason, the 2023 NFL Draft presents the best opportunity for the Bills to improve before the new season starts.

While positions like wide receiver and linebacker stand as the most obvious needs for the squad, the Buffalo Bills need to swing for the fences if they expect to dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs anytime soon. Bijan Robinson is the premier offensive playmaker in the 2023 NFL Draft class and is the ideal player to take the Buffalo Bills over the top.

Robinson is the best running back to enter the league in recent memory. Throughout his three years at Texas, Robinson rushed for 3,410 yards on 539 (6.3 yards per carry average) and 33 touchdowns. Robinson was also a weapon in the passing game, catching 60 passes for 805 yards and eight touchdowns during his college career.

Bijan Robinson stands out as the ideal target for the Buffalo Bills in the 2023 NFL Draft.

A quick, elusive and explosive runner, Robinson dominates with the ball in his hands. The former Longhorn does a great job of finding the hole quickly, explodes through with incredible burst and shows the ability to make defenders miss in tight spaces. Robinson is also a tough and physical runner who shows great contact balance on a consistent basis. Simply put, this guy is an incredibly well-rounded running back prospect who is going to shine at the next level.

Led by Damien Harris and James Cook, the running back position is not a major need for the Buffalo Bills. That being said, it is far from a huge position of strength for the team. The running game has let this team down multiple times over the years and inserting a talent like Robinson would immediately stabilize that part of the offense. Add in Robinson’s ability to make plays in the passing game and it is easy to see how this pick could take the Bills over the top.

Holding the 27th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills may currently be out of range to snag Robinson. Running back is not a position that the NFL values highly so Robinson is unlikely to go in the top 10. That being said, it is unlikely that a talent like Robinson falls all the way to No. 27.

With this in mind, the Bills may need to get aggressive. This draft class is relatively deep but is commonly considered a class that lacks a lot of premier talent. This could easily lead to teams looking to move down the draft board throughout the first round. With Robinson standing out as such an ideal target for the team, the Bills should take advantage of this situation and look to trade up for the talented running back if he slips to the late teens.

Simply put, Bijan Robinson is arguably the most talented player in the 2023 NFL Draft class and the Buffalo Bills have an extremely talented and well-rounded roster that is ready to compete for a Super Bowl. Adding Robinson to the mix would immediately fill a potential hole on this roster with a special talent. Talk about position value all you want, but the Buffalo Bills would undoubtedly be more dangerous with Bijan Robinson on the roster.
