Leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft, nobody had a clue as to what to expect. For the first time in a while, fans and analysts alike had no idea who was going where other than quarterback Bryce Young going number one overall to the Carolina Panthers.

But just like every other draft, some teams were going to do better than others and it was the same this year. Heading into the draft, the Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders had the most ammo with 12 picks each.

However, four teams had multiple first-round picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, and as the New York Jets showed in last year’s draft, getting them right can change your franchise instantly even if the team is at an early stage of its rebuild.

A few teams who were on the brink of making a championship run in 2022 saw this draft as an opportunity to add the missing pieces they needed to get over the top. Here are three teams that are closer to winning a Super Bowl following the 2023 NFL draft:

Baltimore Ravens

Hours before the NFL draft, the Ravens fans got the news they were waiting for. Quarterback Lamar Jackson had finally signed a long-term contract to stay in Baltimore for the foreseeable future. The only thing left was to put enough around him to allow the Ravens to compete in a stacked AFC.

Something the Ravens have failed to do since Jackson got there, was give him weapons in the passing game. Safe to say that is no longer an issue, with the Ravens selecting explosive wide receiver Zay Flowers in the first round of the NFL draft.

Flowers will join Odell Beckham Jr, Nelson Agholor, Rashod Bateman, and Devin Duvernay in the receiver room as well as All-Pro tight end Mark Andrews. Add a healthy J.K. Dobbins into the mix in the backfield and all of a sudden you have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL.

The Ravens only had five picks going into the draft so they had little wiggle room if they wanted to navigate the draft, but they got their main target and used the rest of the draft to supplement the rest of their roster and make another push.

The Ravens have been very close every year but end up falling just short, whether it be due to an injury to Lamar Jackson or a bad play call. Baltimore will be hoping Zay Flowers and the rest of the draft class can help push them over the top.
