3 QBs under the most pressure entering the 2023 NFL season
Justin Fields, Chicago Bears
Justin Fields is under a ton of pressure and has perhaps been the most talked about QB in the NFL this year. Fields was a horrid QB in his first year and did make some strides in year two, but questions remain about his ability as a passer. Bears’ OC Luke Getsy did unleash Fields on the ground as he rushed for over 1,000 yards and did improve his passer rating.
GM Ryan Poles also made a few great moves to give Fields a no-excuses type of offense in 2023. He signed talented guard Nate Davis in free agency, drafted a day-one starter at right tackle in Darnell Wright, and traded for WR DJ Moore.
The Bears don’t really have a noticeable weakness on offense anymore. It’s a fully-stocked cupboard for Fields, and with Poles not having connections to Fields since he was drafted by Ryan Pace, I think year three is pivotal for him.
He’s under a ton of pressure; if he stumbles in year three or does not progress how they like, I think Poles won’t hesitate to pull the plug and look elsewhere for the team’s franchise QB. The Bears’ roster is also not too shabby, so I do think we could see a situation where Poles would dump Fields for a different, established veteran who can help them win now.
We know Justin Fields can run, but can he put it together as a passer in 2023?
A lot is at stake for the young QB in 2023. He’s under a ton of pressure.
