3 most overhyped teams heading into the 2023 NFL season

New Orleans Saints

I am just not buying into the New Orleans Saints for the 2023 season.  Last year, the Saints went 7-10 and missed the playoffs in their first year after the retirement of Sean Payton which lasted for a year.  Andy Dalton was the primary starter, going 6-8 in 14 starts.  He actually played quite well, too, earning a 95.2 passer rating.

Between Dalton, Jameis Winston, and Taysom Hill, the Saints’ QBs combined for 24 touchdowns, 14 interceptions, and a passer rating of 93.6

In 2022, Derek Carr threw for 24 touchdowns, 14 interceptions, and a passer rating of 86.3.  That information coupled with a few other aspects makes me low on the Saints.  Their head coach, Dennis Allen, has proven to be an ineffective head coach in the NFL, going 15-38 over his HC career.

They also have quite a few aging players who also happen to be their most talented players like Michael Thomas, Cam Jordan, Marcus Maye, and Tyrann Mathieu.  I think this will be a disciplined team, but I don’t think much else of them.

They didn’t really get appreciably better at QB, are poorly coached, and have old players.  The Saints do have the privilege of being in what appears to be a weaker division, but I am not buying into this team for 2023.

I’m actually a fan of Derek Carr, but he’s cut from the same cloth as Andy Dalton, so I don’t think we’ll see the New Orleans Saints do much in 2023.  They’ve definitely been overhyped this offseason.
