3 most overhyped teams heading into the 2023 NFL season
Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills are not among the elite teams in the AFC. They’re a clear tier below the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals, and their QB, Josh Allen is as well. I don’t think the Bills are a bad team, and I do think they’ll easily make the playoffs, but they seem to collapse when they hit the postseason.
Josh Allen is great, but he throws a ton of interceptions. He’s thrown 32 interceptions over the last two seasons including the playoffs. They’ve also been seen as the best team in the AFC over the last couple of years, at least in the offseason. I remember the national NFL media overhyping the Bills last year. Many called them early Super Bowl favorites.
They then proceeded to blow out the Los Angeles Rams in week one of the 2022 NFL season but collapsed against the Bengals in the 2022 playoffs.
They also did lose their defensive coordinator in Leslie Frazier, which is a huge loss. Between what I just mentioned, their shaky offensive line, and more Stefon Diggs drama, I don’t think this team is going to be a serious contender when the playoffs start.
In fact, I think this is a 4th-seed playoff team in 2023. I believe the Jaguars are a team that ends up surprising in 2023 and finishes above the Bills in the playoff seeding.
In fact, I think the Bengals earn the one seed, the Chiefs earn the two seed, and the Jaguars and Bills earn the last two divisional winner seeds.
The Buffalo Bills are overhyped.
