Quarterback Shuffle: 3 passers who could be on the move in ’24
Quarterback Shuffle: 3 passers who could be on the move in ’24
Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
I do think the Dallas Cowboys would consider moving on from Dak Prescott at the end of the season if the Cowboys fail to do anything in the playoffs. They have not made it past the divisional round since 1995 and have, in recent years, laid massive eggs when it mattered most in the postseason. Prescott is a really good quarterback; he’s probably the 10th-12th best QB in the NFL, but something has to give.
He’s been the starter since 2016, and besides nice regular-season statistics and win-loss record, he has nothing to show for. The postseason has not been kind to the Cowboys in the Dak Prescott era, and they are a much too talented team to keep fizzling out in the Wild Card round. They have a ton of talent on this roster, and if they fail again in the postseason, I think Prescott is next in line to be the scapegoat.
Mike McCarthy is a better head coach than Prescott is a quarterback, so I do think Jerry Jones would opt to pick McCarthy over Prescott if he had to choose. The Cowboys would then be left wondering who’d be their franchise QB, but my guess is if they were to part with Prescott, they’d have another plan in mind, because again, their roster is absolutely loaded and is plenty good enough to win a Super Bowl.
They are excellent along the offensive and defensive lines, wher games in the NFL are won and lost. They have great wide receivers, cornerbacks, and pass rushers, which are also a necessity in he modern-day NFL. I do think the biggest question for this team is Dak Prescott, who had a horribly inefficient year last year, somehow tossing 15 interceptions in just 12 games.
